INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS: Your Responsibilities Letters to faculty Upon approval, and with appropriate clinical documentation, students registered with AEO receive Letters to Faculty which serve as an introduction and a way to approach faculty about recommended accommodations. Letters are given directly to the student and the student then approaches faculty members at his or her own discretion. Wording changes can be made to letters when appropriate. Letters are good for one term only. Please contact AEO or call 617-496-8707 if your faculty letters have not arrived (and you are entitled to receive them). Midterm Exams Although accommodations for midterm exams are the responsibility of course faculty, please keep in mind that faculty members need adequate time to prepare for such accommodations. Faculty letters should be submitted as soon as possible before any timed exams or exercises. While it is expected that faculty will make all reasonable efforts to provide accommodations, they are not liable for accommodations which can not be made because of delays in submitting faculty letters. For example, if a midterm is scheduled for 3pm on Friday and the student informs the faculty member that he needs an accommodation at 5pm on Thursday afternoon, the faculty member may not be able to secure a separate room in time. While emergencies do occur, please help your faculty by giving them adequate time to ensure proper accommodations. Final Exams Accommodations for final exams are made through the Exams Office in conjunction with AEO. Students who have already provided appropriate clinical documentation will receive instructions from the Exams Office regarding alternate classrooms or times, if appropriate. If you have not received such notification, please contact AEO or the Exams Office at 495-1542. If there is an error or conflict with the new schedule you receive from the Exams Office, please notify them as soon as possible at 495-1542. |
